TEJAS Express | Chennai to Madurai Fastest Train | BEST INTERIORS | Indian Railways - Catch the First ever commercial run of the much awaited modern luxury train 22671 Chennai Egmore - Madurai Tejas Express.

Tejas Express is the new luxury train introduced by the Indian railways to connect Chennai with Madurai. It id the fastest train connecting capital city of Chennai to the temple city Madurai.
The train would run six days a week (except Thursdays) and would have a composition of 1 first AC executive chair car, 12 AC chair cars and two generator luggage vans totalling 15 coaches.
Tejas express can touch a maximum speed of 160 km per hour (however speed is restricted to 110kmph) and boasts of several modern features like swanky coaches and ergonomically designed seats.
It would cover the 496 kms stretch in 6 hours and 30 minutes - fastest train equipped with ultra-modern facilities
Tejas Express on Chennai-Madurai route would leave Chennai Egmore at 0600 hours and reach Madurai at 12.30hrs on the return direction it would leave Madurai at 1500hrs and reach Chennai Egmore at 21.30hrs.
The coaches have sliding doors which would be operated by a guard. As soon as the signal for the train to move out of the station is received, the guard will close the sliding doors of all the coaches. This would ensure safety and security of passengers. However, passengers who have the habit of getting down from the trains at platforms as soon as they halt at stations should be wary about this safety feature.
“Many tend to board trains as they start chugging out. But in this case, the doors will close before the train leaves. If there is no one to manually open them, people may end up missing the train,” said a Travelling Ticket Examiner.
The coaches are equipped with CCTVs. “The data of each camera would be stored for 30 days,” said a Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer. The coaches also have smoke detectors. “If smoke is detected, the system will raise an alarm. If the smoke is not put out, the system will shut down the train,” he added.
